Solving The Clean Water Crisis With Sustainable Energy

Tenkiv designs, builds and implements advanced clean energy systems. We developed a fully integrated solar energy system that provides renewable energy at a lower cost than any alternative including fossil fuels, transforming the argument about choosing between ‘green’ expensive energy and ‘dirty’ finite energy. Our technology is well suited for many applications including providing energy for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings as well as for water sterilization, desalination and reclamation. In evaluating how our innovative technology could be most effectively launched to impact a pressing global problem we focused our attention on water purification using our solar thermal and heat recovery system to pasteurize biologically contaminated water. By using our proprietary and revolutionary PII Thermal Circuit we have removed the barrier of the high cost for energy that is normally required to eliminate viruses, bacteria and parasites from water using heat sterilization. Tenkiv’s innovative technology provides a practical, affordable way to bring clean water and renewable energy to communities around the world thereby preventing the needless suffering caused by waterborne diseases. How it benefits society

The Tenkiv Nexus can have profound, sustainable results on the pervasive and dire problem of lack of access to clean water across the globe. At least one third of the world’s population currently does not have access to safe drinking water. Diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, dysentery, hepatitis A, typhoid and polio would be significantly ameliorated if clean water can simply be made available to those populations. Hundreds of thousands of deaths can be avoided by implementing our method of sterilizing water from biologically contaminated sources. Currently, at least 1.8 billion people use a drinking water source contaminated with feces. Most countries in Africa, Asia, South America and Eastern Europe are affected by this problem. The impact is primarily on the most economically disadvantaged communities. Biologically contaminated water is estimated to cause over 500,000 deaths each year including the loss of 2200 children daily. Additionally, over 200,000,000 people contract acute chronic disease caused by parasitic worms in water. The Tenkiv Nexus also helps to solve other pressing issues. Women and children are often responsible for acquiring safe drinking water. This task involves potentially dangerous and time consuming treks of several miles or more, often in adverse conditions. Gaining access to pure water by sterilizing the water from a local well or surface water source can transform many communities.

Tenkiv was founded by six individuals that came together with a determination to develop a unique, impactful technology that would provide a solution to the world’s energy and water problems. We are a diverse group with diverse skills, from software designers to engineers to business entrepreneurs. We came together, informally, to try to answer the academic question of whether it was possible to produce clean energy from a renewable source at a competitive price point to fossil fuels. And, to our surprise, the answer was a resounding 'yes'. The system we designed (which works quite differently from anything at market), could disrupt the energy market and make clean energy the intelligent economic choice as well as the intelligent environmental choice. Seeing this, we knew we had to cross over from R&D and bring our unique technology to market. Our company has grown by attracting the interest of others who understand what an important impact we could make and who want to work with us. Our original founding group is at the core of our structure. They each work with teams that focus on different aspects of our plan. In this way, we are able to be nimble in working toward our goal of transforming the energy industry and democratizing sustainable water and energy access.
