WibiSmart ENVIRO – Sustainable wireless sensing

The WibiSmart ENVIRO provides effective means to monitor the environment, whether it is air, water, or soil quality. Its compact design uses the latest technology, yet being affordable, making it easy to deploy. Powered by light, it frees low-power electronics from using conventional batteries, ensuring a product lifetime of 10 years or more, thus reducing its environmental footprint. By collecting data through the internet, it provides timely alerts and predictive analytics to improve emergency response to weather conditions and natural disasters. It helps better manage resources, such as water usage in irrigation, limit the use of fertilizers, measures water quality for safe bathing and fish farms, and assesses water waste level in cities. By gathering air quality information, it can determine air pollutants level, detect fire outbreaks and gas leaks.

How it benefits society

Giving access to environmental information to all citizens or enterprises, the WibiSmart ENVIRO helps organising large-scale environmental action to manage our pollution exposure and optimize our natural resources usage, thus ensuring a more sustainable ecosystem. It enhances the quality of life of citizens by protecting and restoring environments and increases public safety. It will benefit to whole society facilitating the transition toward smart cities and smart agriculture. Our concern is to bring back our society in communion with our environment. It will be a success if we promote changes in people’s behaviour due to access at information about their environment.

Wibicom is a high-tech start-up company founded by Mina Danesh to deliver novel wireless communications products and services. After 15 years of research and design in wireless technologies, she got interested in renewable energy for low-power electronics. After earning her doctorate in the Netherlands, she decided to pursue her dream of starting up something that no one had dared before: merging her knowledge of wireless hardware design and solar energy into an appealing product. Late 2012, she decided to return to her hometown, Montreal, to incorporate Wibicom. After 3 years of hard work and earning a US patent, she decided to make the jump to develop a complete device that would target the Internet of Things, a growing and exciting market. In 2016, she hired 3 engineering students who were enthousiastic in making WibiSmart products a reality. Her care about the environment led to the creation of the WibiSmart ENVIRO. Wibicom’s team now counts 4 members. We aspire to grow in the nearby future and develop a worldwide presence.
